For the last time in our lifetime Venus will transit the sun on June 5/6. For the acclaimed international organisation Astronomers Without Borders, DDQ made the VenusTransit app for iPhone and Android.
The app will be used by thousands of volunteers and (amateur-) astronomers to determine the distance between earth and the sun.
Precise logging is needed. Therefore, the app relies heavily on GPS and cell-information. A simulation module is provided too. As well as an interactive map where the local transit times are calculated in real time.
